What are the biggest holes in the ransom sacrifice?
by Half banana inhow honest are the proponents of jesus as the ransom sacrifice?.
curious to see what type of response there is on a topic like this or does their study only seek to confirm their preconceptions and ignore uncomfortable facts?.

WikiPedia - Historical Jesus: "Most contemporary scholars of antiquity agree that Jesus existed, and most biblical scholars and classical historians see the theories of his nonexistence as effectively refuted. There is no indication that writers in antiquity who opposed Christianity questioned the existence of Jesus."
Josephus & Tacitus recorded evidence of Jesus' existence and Rabbi Nelson Glueck, a renowned Jewish archaeologist said this about Bible references: "It may be stated categorically that no archaeological discovery has ever controverted a Biblical reference. Scores of archaeological findings have been made which confirm in clear outline or exact detail historical statements in the Bible. And, by the same token, proper evaluation of Biblical descriptions has often led to amazing discoveries."
Even if these references are ignored, the greatest undeniable historical fact about the man known as Jesus Christ (apart from Christianity itself ) is this: thousands of 1st century Christians (and their families) were willing to be crucified, burned alive, or eaten alive by wild animals, rather than renounce their faith in someone they had most likely personally seen. Personally, I think many people would readily deny a long-held belief in anything they believed, rather than face such terrible fates. They had a choice to avoid the consequences, but for reasons of "faith", they refused to deny Jesus Christ.

2015 WT CD ROM Trying to Hide the Past
by The Searcher inwhen installing, it asks if you'd like to receive automatic updates via the internet.. in other words, "we will re-write our history without you knowing what was written previously.".
the corporation knows that many will never exchange their cd rom for the puerile online library, so doctoring their previous "truths" is the best solution.. a bit like the creed painted on the barn door in "animal farm.

Hey Landy - a new CD ROM is issued every 12 months, so there is no need to "update software that runs the library."
I hear what you're saying though - I really have no need to be overly suspicious and paranoid about the Corporation's devious agendas - just being routinely suspicious & paranoid should cover it!

km 2/00 p. 7 Question Box
Is it appropriate to applaud when a reinstatement is announced?
In his loving-kindness, Jehovah God has provided a Scriptural way for repentant wrongdoers to regain his favor and achieve reinstatement in the Christian congregation. (Ps. 51:12, 17) When this takes place, we are encouraged to confirm our love for such sincerely repentant ones.—2 Cor. 2:6-8.
Even so, as joyful as we are when a relative or acquaintance is reinstated, a quiet dignity should prevail at the time that the person’s reinstatement is announced in the congregation. The Watchtower of October 1, 1998, page 17, expressed matters this way: “We must remember, however, that most in the congregation are not aware of the particular circumstances that led to a person’s expulsion or to his reinstatement. In addition, there may be some who have been personally affected or hurt—perhaps even on a long-term basis—by the wrongdoing of the repentant one. Being sensitive to such matters, therefore, when an announcement of reinstatement is made, we would understandably withhold expressions of welcome until such can be made on a personal basis.”
Although we are very happy to see someone return to the truth, applause at the time of his or her reinstatement would not be appropriate.

The vast majority of Branch Offices are/will be viewed as surplus to requirements, and will be replaced with a Regional/Zone Office which can accommodate Remote Translation Offices.
The means to determine exactly who is contributing financially to the Corporation will have to set up, in order to guilt the non-contributors. Handing over cash will be deemed as "part of your sacred service to Jehovah."

Another Galling Meeting!
by Nicholaus Kopernicus inyesterday's meeting was again, quite soporific.
however, i felt indignation when it came to paragraph 16 of the watchtower catechism.
it reads..."the remarkable growth that we see today is the result of our faith in god and full acceptance of the bible..."i won't deal with the first part of that sentence here, but the claim at the end - this is just an outright and most egregious lie!

"Next week's Watchtower catechism is called: "One Hundred Years Under Kingdom Rulership!".
So, Christ has only 898 years & 8 months left of his 1000 years to wipe out wickedness and to bring the earth to perfection!
According to the scriptures, when Christ's reign starts, he will throw Satan into the abyss and then carry out the resurrection. I must've missed those events.
(Revelation 20:2-7) "And he seized the dragon, the original serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 And he hurled him into the abyss and shut [it] and sealed [it] over him, that he might not mislead the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After these things he must be let loose for a little while. 4 And I saw thrones, and there were those who sat down on them, and power of judging was given them. Yes, I saw the souls of those executed with the ax for the witness they bore to Jesus and for speaking about God, and those who had worshiped neither the wild beast nor its image and who had not received the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand. And they came to life and ruled as kings with the Christ for a thousand years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6 Happy and holy is anyone having part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no authority, but they will be priests of God and of the Christ, and will rule as kings with him for the thousand years. 7 Now as soon as the thousand years have been ended, Satan will be let loose out of his prison..."
So, are the Magnificent 7 trying to change scriptures again by saying that Christ's reign will be an overlapping rulership - one which lasts longer than the 1000 years which God/Jesus/angel stated to the apostle John?
Interestingly, if you type in "thousand years" in the 2015 WT Library search, none of these Revelation verses are listed.
